Instagram is introducing a new feature called “Archive”. It gives freedom to hide your previous posts on Instagram.
The feature lets anyone on Instagram hide their old posts without deleting them. Instagram seems to be hoping that the archive will both stop people from deleting their photos and make people more comfortable with sharing certain photos in the first place.
For some users, Instagram can be a cluttered experience, filled with old, often embarrassing photos and especially have a habit of deleting pictures that don’t garner enough likes. The archive won’t necessarily stop that behavior, but it’ll at least keep the pictures around for later viewing.
“Your profile is a representation of who you are and evolves with you over time. With Archive, you now have more flexibility to shape your profile while still preserving moments that matter,” Instagram said in a post on yesterday.
How to Archive a post ?
After updating the Instagram app to the latest version, you will be able to archive any of your shared. To archive your post, tap “…” at the top of the post and choose “Archive”.
You’ll still be able to see it when you tap the Archive icon in the top right corner of your profile. That way, you can always return to these posts and see previous likes and comments from friends.
This lets you shape your profile to match your current taste, while at the same time keeps the archived ones safe for you to revisit later. You also have the option to move it back into the profile at any time by tap “Show on Profile” at any time and it’ll show up in its original spot.
X factor :
With this update, you now have a space just for you, where you can revisit moments without having to keep them all on your profile.
These updates are available as part of Instagram version 10.21 and above for iOS in the Apple App Store and for Android in Google Play.
